Pete Firmin of the Labour Representation Committee sent us this message,
The Labour Representation Committee is pleased to encourage support for the rule change being promoted by Labour International which would bring in open selection for all Parliamentary candidates. This should be a basic right for Party members to choose who will represent them each time there is a parliamentary election. Our representatives should see it as an honour to serve which they have to – repeatedly – earn, not a sinecure which is theirs for keeps.
This is absolutely the right way to democratise the LP and it should be supported by all members who want to see the LP back in control of its members and not some subversive faction.
It’s good to see that Pete Firmin of the Labour Representation Committee is pleased to encourage Open Selection for all Parliamentary candidates, saying it should be a basic right for Party members to choose who will represent as Parliamentary candidates.
